Headed east this morning with bottom fishing in mind. It was pretty nasty starting out with a 10-15kt breeze from the South and 3-4' swell from the SE and choppy in between. Made it out east of BB and worked our way out toward CH. Sonny hooked a 100lb sting ray so we took turns fighting it. It broke down 5 of us before it came to the top. As Clint was finishing the ray up, he yells out "Dolphin!". Just off the port side of the boat, a 7-8lb dolphin came cruising by. Just to peak his interest, I tossed some squid chunks over the side in his direction; he circled back and started picking them off. By the time he finished them up, I tossed him a couple more chunks, except I injected these chunks with a couple treble hooks. He "took the bait" so to speak and shortly thereafter, he was in the fish box. We had a mixed bag of fish with 8 red snapper, 1 dolphin, 1 ringtail porgy, 7 black sea bass, 8 beeliners, and a released sting ray that went 100lbs easy! Great crew, a good mess of fish, and a few sore backs! Keep those rods bent!!
