This time of the year I share a love/hate relationship with mother nature. I hate the that all the cold fronts keep moving in, keeping the ocean too rough to fish, but I love the excuse to stay inshore and catch sheepshead and other inshore species. I went with John Frits Sr. and John Frits Jr. today and fished the Mayport jetties for sheepshead. It was 38 degrees at daylight and we maintained a 15-20kt wind all day. The fruits of our labor was 24 sheepshead up to 8lbs, and a black margate. The bait of choice was fiddler crabs an the method is included free with a paid charter:) Even though the conditions were nasty, the good bite of fish and the great fellowship with a couple friends made the day not only enjoyable, but memorable. But isn't that why we fish? Book a trip while they're biting good and keep those rods bent!!
