Well after watching the weather updates closely for 2 days, we went out this morning hoping to beat the front. We did a pretty good job up until the last minute when the winds picked up out of the NW at 20+ which picked the seas up to about 3-5 with about a 3 second period. It was pretty nasty on the ride back in. It took almost 2 hours to make it in from 30 miles. Today was the day for the fish to tally up the most wins! We lost at least 6-7 keeper snapper to pulled hooks. It seems like they just weren't feeding but just lipping the baits. Then when we set the hook, we would hook their lips and during the fight, the fish would pull off. We set a record with that today. We still did pretty good though. We had 2 red snapper (6-7 big fish breakoffs and several undersized released), 17 vermillion snapper, 22 black sea bass, a ringtail porgy, 2 flounder (7lbs each), a few sharks, and a sea turtle (successfully dehooked and released unharmed). We could have done much better on the black sea bass and vermillion, but we were really focusing our efforts on catching some red snapper, except we just couldn't keep them hooked. Great time guys: way to tough it out! See ya next time..
