Headed out this morning and loaded up with some big pogies on the beach. We started at BB, then to EF, and ended at BB. We ended up with a pretty good fish box. We had 4 snapper up to 13lbs (several undersized releases), a few undersized grouper, 21 black sea bass, a beeliner, a couple sharks, and at the last minute I hear someone yell, "What's that?" Simultaneously a couple people yell, "Dolphin!" I look down and there are 2 dolphin (10lbs and 12lbs) swimming up to the boat. You could tell by their erratic movements, they were fired up and ready to eat anything. I offered them a live pogy on a kingfish rig and it got gobbled up instantly by the smaller fish! We fought him to the gaff and in the boat he came. Before we lifted that fish out of the water, I tossed the bigger fish a kingfish rig tipped with a squid and he gobbled it up. What an amazing site to see those dolphin swimming around the boat all lit up. They have such beautiful colors; you can only appreciate how beautiful they are when you see them swimming by the boat in clear water. In about 5 minutes, we had 22lbs of dolphin in the boat and were only 12 miles off the beach. That doesn't happen every day. The surface temp was 84 degrees on the ride back in; wow! Great job guys and way to keep those rods bent!! Be sure to check out the "Videos" on the homepage. There's a video of Trent catching the 13lb snapper and Joel fighting the 12lb dolphin among several other videos.
